Dieser führt in seinem Musikvideo Kunst als Status­symbol vor, indem er in einer New Yorker Galerie ein exklusives Performance-Event mit Starbesetzung als Kulisse seines Auftritts inszeniert. Anders annette hollywood: Für ihr Musik­video verlässt sie den Kunstraum und bewegt sich auf einem goldenen Fahrrad durch den Berliner Stadtraum. Mit den Symbolen und Mitteln des Hiphops performt sie den genre­spezifischen Answer Song an Orten, an denen Kunst als Street Art oder als andere nicht-kommerzielle Form eine widerständige Bedeutung gewinnt. hollywoods Bigasso Baby: A Hip Hop Performance Art Film thematisiert künst­lerische Praxis im Spannungsfeld von Kom­merzialisierung, Spekulation und Repräsentation auf der einen und realen Produktions­be­din­gungen und Prekariat vieler Kunstschaffender auf der anderen Seite. Das Video wurde erstmals in einer raumgreifenden Installation in der Galerie Futura in Berlin gezeigt, die den Aus­stellungs­betrieb als Inszenie­rung sichtbar machte. hollywoods Installation adaptiert dabei mit Aus­stellungs­display, Werbebanner, Plakat und Ein­ladungs­karte die Insignien der White Cube-Inszenierung des Rappers und verweist in Do-It-Yourself-Ästhetik auf die prekären Produktions­bedingungen von Bigasso Baby.

The video Bigasso Baby: A Hip Hop Performance Art Film is an aggressive response to the music video Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film by the rapper Jay-Z. In his music video, he shows art as a status symbol by staging a star-studded exclusive performance event as the backdrop for his performance at a New York gallery. annette hollywood proceeds in a different fashion. For her music video, she leaves the world of art and moves on a golden bicycle through Berlin’s city space. With the symbols and tools of hip hop, she performs her “answer song” in locations where art takes on a resistant significance as street art or in another non-commercial form. hollywood’s Bigasso Baby: A Hip Hop Performance Art Film explores artistic practice in the field of tension between commercialization, speculation, and representation on the one hand and actual production conditions and the precarious existence of many artists on the other. The video was shown for the first time in an installation at Berlin’s Galerie Futura that displayed the business of running exhibitions as a staging. In so doing, hollywood’s installation with its exhibition display, advertising banner, poster, and invitation card adapts the insignia of the rapper’s white cube staging and refers in a do-it-yourself aesthetic to the precarious conditions of production behind Bigasso Baby.
