Artists’ Best Friends ist eine Aneignung und Reinterpretation des 1953 von Marilyn Monroe gesungenen Musical-Klassikers Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend. Genderqueer und mit Bling-Bling ausgestattet performt annette hollywood den Song mit neuem Text und persifliert Geschlechter­inszenierungen und Rollenzuschrei­bungen. Humorvoll und selbstironisch wird zudem die Ambivalenz von finanziellem Erfolg und künstlerischer Anerkennung des Kunstschaffens verhandelt. So wedelt sich die Künstlerin mit der mit Solo-Show markierten Ein­ladungs­karte Luft zu, doch diese offenbart zugleich den Ort der Ausstellung: der Out Off Money Space.

Artists’ Best Friends is an appropriation and reinterpretation of Marilyn Monroe’s musical hit “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” from 1953. Outfitted in a gender queer and bling-bling fashion, annette hollywood performs the song with a new text and parodies gender stagings and role attributions. In a humorous and self-ironic way, the song also deals with the ambivalence of financial success and the artistic recognition of artistic creation. The artist fans herself with the invitation card marked as a solo show, but this reveals at the same time the site of the exhibition: the Out Off Money Space.
