In der Rauminstallation YOU ARE THE STAR werden Videoaufnahmen von einer Menge, die auf die Ankunft eines Prominenten in den Straßen von New York wartet, so mit einer zusammengezimmerten Apparatur kombiniert, dass man sein eigenes Bild an die Stelle des » Stars « in der Menge einsetzen kann: hollywood kehrt das Phänomen »Star« auf das Publikum um – in einer Art, die ebenso faszinierend ist wie low - tech. Hier nähert sich die Fantasie der Realität schelmisch, nicht naiv.

In pieces like YOU ARE THE STAR, a room installation which combines footage taken of crowds awaiting the arrival of a celebrity on the streets of New York with a home- made contraption for inserting one’s own image into the crowd in the role of the » star,« hollywood turns the very phenomenon of stardom back upon the audience in a manner that is as intriguing as it is low - tech. Here, fantasy stretches out to engage reality in an approach more mischievous than naïve.
